smashing it up and getting smashed!

Friday marked the completion of my November cycle which was pretty epic!!! As I mentioned earlier it was a big three weeks of eccentric loading in the gym, hurdle drills in weights vests, lots of running and throwing. To finish it off I had a good weights session on Friday morning and then a speed session in the afternoon. The best thing is I got through unscathed and got some really great work done.

My coach, Elena, always says to me don't worry about tomorrow just focus on today and bring your best to right now. It's a great attitude to have in heptathlon and athletics. Particularly when you are tired from the day before and are faced with another killer session today. As a result in my third week of the cycle I was producing the fastest times of the cycle despite being physically, neurally and mentally fatigued. Very pleasing!

Angus and Mike have been nailing me in the gym but I'm loving it. We have done an eccentric phase which has resulted in Mike having to resist against me in certain parts of a few key lifts. Mike is pretty dam committed to the team that he actually had sore abs for three days after the first time we did eccentric squats!!! Great to help him push play for the day :)

I had the weekend off training which was a huge treat to have two full days off. I was up in the beautiful Bay of Islands at a friends wedding. It was so special to catch up with my amazing friends. It's pretty much head down at the moment so to escape for a couple of days was a dream. Now back to reality and a recovery week...time to get the body ready for the last big cycle of 2011!!!!
